ToggleThe fourth game of the India Premier League (IPL) saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) host Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals on their return – to the professional domestic league after a two-year hiatus.
As the match turned out, it was a clinical effort from the SRH players who asserted their dominance over the Royals.
Here we look at the game-changing moments from the game.
Kane Williamson’s electrifying fielding:
The captain of the SRH Kane Williamson led by example by setting the standards on the field with a couple of brilliant dismissals.
His brilliant run-out curtailed the much-hyped D’Arcy Short’s inning short. He then picked up the highly priced wicket of Ben Stokes.
Sanju Samson’s breezy knock:
Sanju Samson was retained by the Royals in the auction for a staggering sum of INR 8 crore. He made sure he was worth every penny for his amount for those delightful strokes he played.
The Kerela batter smashed 49 off 42 deliveries which included five boundaries. Unfortunately, he kept losing partners at the other end.
SRH’s bowling class:
The Sunrisers Hyderabad collective bowling efforts were world class. Williamson precisely used five bowlers who bowled their quota of overs.
Billy Stanlake threatened with his pace while Shakib and Siddarth Kaul chipped in with a couple of wickets.
They restricted the Royals’ batting lineup to a meager total of 125 and almost bowled them out.
Ajinkya Rahane’s drop catch:
But, Ajinkya Rahane had to lead by example in the field especially looking at Williamson as his counterpart. Also, they needed early wickets to defend the modest total.
Unfortunately, Rahane had a bad day as he dropped a sitter at slip region, which gave a player like Shikhar Dhawan a life. This turned out to be the turning point in the match.
Shikhar Dhawan commanding terms:
However, after getting an early life, flamboyant Shikhar Dhawan dominated proceedings, carrying on with his purple patch. He scored a trademark counter attacking 77 off 57 balls at a strike rate of 135
Dhawan entertained the crowd with 13 boundaries and a maximum for SRH.
