ToggleAaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell have joined their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) side before their next games for the ongoing eleventh edition of the cash-rich league.
The duo had a later arrival in IPL due to the wedding of Finch on April 8. Maxwell was the emcee (master of ceremonies)at the Finch’s wedding.
Maxwell is a part of Delhi Daredevils while Finch will play for Kings XI Punjab.
Incidentally, it was KXIP and DD that faced each other on the same day as Finch’s wedding.
The news of them missing the wedding was confirmed month back as soon as the IPL fixtures were revealed.
The duo was quick to land in India soon so as to be available for the second game for their franchises.
First, it will be Maxwell is expected to play for Delhi Daredevils on Wednesday (April 11).
Delhi Daredevils will face Rajasthan Royals in an away game. Maxwell is expected to replace Daniel Christian in the squad for their second game.
He was purchased by Delhi Daredevils for a huge amount of INR 9 crore.
Coming to Finch, his team will be playing its next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 13. He still has enough time to prepare for the game.
Finch is not expected to open the innings as Virender Sehwag, KXIP’s mentor, had already said that they have an option of using him in the middle-order.
Finch might warm the bench for this game but if KXIP wants him to be in the playing XI, he might replace David Miller.
To be precise, the chances of this are quite minimum Finch was purchased by Kings XI Punjab for INR 6.20 crore.
If Aaron Finch plays the next game, it would mean that there will be three Australians in KXIP’s line-up.
Marcus Stoinis and Andrew Tye are not expected to be dropped from the playing XI.
While the former was retained by the franchise by the use of Right to Match Card (RTM) for INR 6.20 crore, the latter bagged huge contract worth INR 7.20 Crore.
