IPL 2018: Afghan All-Rounder Mohammad Nabi Believes SRH Can do Well Despite Losing Warner
Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will be looking to ply his trade in the cash-rich Indian Premier League this season.
He had shown his qualities across global T20 leagues over the past two seasons. However, he is yet to make a mark in IPL like his dear pal Rashid Khan. The young Rashid took the league by storm last season, while Nabi was good to play a quiet role whenever he was called upon.
However, speaking ahead of their first IPL game against Rajasthan Royals, Nabi hails management team at the franchise.
“I am very happy that SRH picked me for the second time in a row, and this just shows that they have the confidence in me, that I can do well.
“Tom Moody, coach of SRH, has been following my game closely during the Big Bash League and ICC World Cup Qualifiers as well. That’s why the management exactly knows how I’m playing, that will help me and the team during the tournament,” Nabi said.
David Warner Loss can be covered up
Going into the IPL season, the biggest blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad was the loss of their skipper David Warner. The Aussie cricketer was involved in ball tampering scandal and was subsequently banned by Cricket Australia for 12 months.
BCCI soon followed suit and banned him from IPL this season. However, considering the all-round quality in the Sunrisers dug out, Nabi believes everyone needs to step up their performances to compensate the loss.
“A player being part of the team or not being part of the team is normal. It happens all the time. I think every player needs to step up their game, and I think we can do well. It is just a matter of getting the team combination right. And I’m sure that everyone will perform well throughout the league.
“We have got good all-rounders and bowlers in the team; those two departments are really strong for us. So we can do well in the tournament,” he added.
Alex Hales has been roped in as a replacement for Warner. Sunrisers will begin their IPL campaign against Rajasthan Royals when both sides meet on Monday in Rajiv Gandhi international cricket stadium, Hyderabad.
