KKR’s ace all-rounder Andre Russell, who recently injured his hamstring during PSL 2018, is now raring to go before the start of the season. Russel recently has undergone training sessions with sprinter Usain Bolt’s physio Everald ‘Eddie’ Edwards.
Russell, also, is coming fresh off his one-year ban for the use of the performance-enhancing substance.
The West Indian all-rounder injured his hamstring while representing the Islamabad United in the 2018 edition of PSL.
“Eddie used to be Usain Bolt’s physio. We all know Bolt is the fastest man in the world, I am the second (laughs) so yeah like to be anywhere close to his fitness, you need guys like Edward around you. He is my personal physio,” commented Andre Russell while taking TOI.
Further, the Jamaican revealed that it was difficult to restrain himself from the party lifestyle to become a better player.
“It’s been tough to be honest. You want to do things but you can’t. You restrict yourself from doing it to be a better player, to be a better athlete and person,” said Russell.
“Like a lot of partying, drinking you know all those bad habits. I am not saying I am perfect, but I am working on it and it’s been treating me well. I am looking fit,” Russell continued.
Also, the T20 mercenary opened up about playing alongside young talents in the two-time IPL winning franchise’s camp.
“It’s fantastic. We have a lot of young talent. We should do really well. Once everyone steps up the plate, it will be good enough,” expressed the 29-year old.
DK’s 8-ball 29 has created a lot of commotion in International cricket off-late. When asked about playing under the new skipper, Russel claims that it would be interesting to play for Dinesh Karthik.
“(I am) excited to work with him. I have played against him. I will be sharing the dressing room with him and taking his instructions. It should be interesting,” concluded Andre Russell.
