ToggleThe Indian Premier League (IPL) has started to pick up some pace as all the eight teams have played one match each in the ongoing eleventh edition of the lucrative Twenty20 league. However, many political groups in Tamil Nadu have demanded that Chennai Super Kings should not host any IPL matches in solidarity with farmers agitating for the formation of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
CSK is returning to the IPL after a gap of two years and the fans are excited to watch their idols play live in front of them at their home base.
Moreover, the cricket association in the state is currently in a dilemma. A stern protest by some of the political parties has put a lot of pressure on them – to not host the IPL matches in Chennai.
The MA. Chidmabram stadium is supposed to host seven IPL matches with the first one to be played on Tuesday (April 10) between Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
However, the franchise has shown very little seriousness towards the issue.
In addition, the funny side of the issue could be understood in a string of tweets.
All this unfolded when, former England captain Michael Vaughan who has just arrived in India to commentate in the IPL tweeted, “Morning India …...”
