IPL 2018: Winning competition not going to be easy, says Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar reckons his side needs to get the minutest of details correct, to stand a chance to win Indian Premier League (2018), this season.
The 2016 champions have lost their skipper David Warner. The Australian cricketer was proved guilty of his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town.
Similarly, this resulted in a ban of 12 months from Australian cricket. But BCCI soon followed suit and banned him from IPL as well.
But the team are very well covered despite the loss. They brought in Alex Hales as the replacement for Warner.
However, Bhuvi reckons they need to do things correctly all through the tournament to win it again.
“Our aim is to win the championship but we know it’s not going to be easy because each team is equally good. So we have to do out things correctly throughout the tournament and look for the little things which will make us champions,” Bhuvneshwar said.
Asked about if there is any special strategy to win the tournament, Bhuvi replied:
“As such, there is no special strategy, but an evening before the match you have a team meeting; you make plans according to the teams. There is still a week to go for the tournament; so, for now, there is no special strategy. But, yes, we are going to make some before entering the meet,” he said.
“It is not always about the big names in the bowling department. If you look at our bowling, Rashid (Khan) is there, Siddarth Kaul, who has done really well last year, is also there among few young players. So we have a decent bowling line-up which has done well in the last few years. I don’t think there will be any pressure or problem regarding the lack of experience,” Bhuvneshwar remarked.
Sunrisers Hyderabad- A Well Rounded Team
Despite losing Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad still has plenty of stars in their lineup. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan will keep the batting in good stead.
While Shakib Al Hasan will play a massive role in balancing the side with both bat and ball. Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul have all proved to be far impressive with the ball for the franchise in the previous seasons.
