ToggleChennai Super Kings (CSK) may rope in England all-rounder David Willey to replace Kedar Jadhav for IPL 2018.
As per a report published in Cricbuzz, the paperwork regarding the signing is already completed and Willey will soon officially be announced as Jadhav’s replacement.
The England all-rounder has played 34 ODIs and 20 T20Is till now.
Overall, he has an experience of paying 147 Twenty20s in which he has scored 2,097 runs and has also claimed 143 wickets.
If roped in, he will become third England player to join IPL in recent time.
First, Alex Hales was roped in Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for David Warner, who is serving the 12-month ban in the wake of Sandpaper Gate.
Later, Liam Plunkett was called-up by Delhi Daredevils to replace Kagiso Rabada.
Though not a like-to-like replacement for Jadhav, Willey will give the luxury of being an all-rounder to CSK. This was the second blow to CSK in IPL.
Even before the start of the tournament, prominent spinner, Mitchell Santner was ruled out for six to nine months due to a knee injury.
The team management decided not to name any replacement. However, the scenario got worse for CSK when Jadhav was ruled out.
He struggled during CSK’s opening game of the season against Mumbai Indians. In fact, he retired mid-way the innings but came back later to bat in the final over.
With a six and a four off Mustafizur Rahman, he sealed the game for Super Kings in an emphatic style.
Meanwhile, David Willey is expected to land in India soon as CSK is bound to make an official announcement regarding his signing.
The two-time IPL champions team next faces Kolkata Knight Riders in a home contest on April 10.
