Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team has returned back to Indian Premier League (IPL) with a sensational win over Mumbai Indians (MI). And the franchise is set to play their first home game at Chennai. Batting coach Michael Hussey had lauded Chennai crowd, calling them the most passionate fans he ever saw in his career.
“The fans in Chennai are up there with the most passionate I have ever experienced, the incredible support we have received since coming back to training, so many screaming fans wanting to see the players,” Hussey said at a media conference.
The 42-year old Hussey, had also played in Chennai Super Kings as a player and won many accolades with the team. He also revealed that Chennai team has a family feel to it.
“We’ve got very much a family feel and the fans are very much a part of that. MS is very much invested in this team, he loves it. The first dinner he got a little bit emotional; it shows how much it means to him,” Hussey maintained.
The Australian legend has further revealed that the team members are emotional on their return to home. Super Kings will play their first home game in nearly three years. The buzz surrounding the match has been quite high.
However, Michael Hussey feels that the team should remain calm while playing the game. He is also hoping for a positive result for the side on their return.
“We understand it will be very emotional, the homecoming. And this place is going to be rocking. But we have got to somehow control that, see what our plans are, execute our skills the best we can and not be caught up in that emotion,” Hussey said.
“We got to be very calm in how we play the game. It’s going to be tough. The guys are very excited to be here, particularly those who have been here in the past. But somehow we got to focus on what is important and then hope the result will take care of itself,” he concludes.
The incredible heroics of Dwayne Bravo had helped the team overcome Mumbai Indians in an opening match. The all-rounder Bravo was sensational with both bat and ball. He will once again be the key when the team faces Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday.
