Chennai Super Kings‘ latest addition to the injury list, MS Dhoni, might hand over his wicket-keeping gloves to Sam Billings in the next match against Rajasthan Royals.
MSD suffered a lower back injury while batting against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. CSK’s captain repeatedly had to call the medical staff from the team to tend his wound.
The eleventh season for CSK has been plagued with injuries, as the likes of Mitchell Santner and Kedar Jadhav already pulled out of the tournament.
Furthermore, Faf du Plessis still is struggling with his finger injury which he sustained in the ODI series against India and aggravated during the Australian series.

Opener Murali Vijay also suffered from a blow to the ribs. Even China Thala, Suresh Raina had missed out on a match due to a calf injury while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, it is learnt that Suresh Raina has returned to practice for the preparation of the upcoming game against Rajasthan Royals. MS Dhoni missed the same practice session held on Wednesday.
Billings should be the first choice wicket-keeper for CSK, coming in place of MSD. The other options in the team are Ambati Rayudu and N Jagadeesan. Rayadu had kept wickets previously for the Mumbai Indians.

It means Dhoni will play in the match against Royals purely as a batsman. MS brought up his highest score in the IPL and almost snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with his late blitzkrieg of 79 which came off just 44 balls.
Unfortunately, the men in yellow fell short of the requisite target by just four runs, in the high scoring run chase.

Furthermore, things have only gone from bad to worse this season, as the citizens in Chennai protested against IPL matches held at Chepauk due to the ongoing Cauvery-row.
As a result, CSK were made to host their matches at their adopted home ground at MCA Stadium Pune, where they face Royals on Thursday.
