ToggleThe league stage game between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangaluru to be played on May 12 in Bengaluru is all set to be rescheduled due to elections.
The Election Commision of India, yesterday, announced the date of the election in the state.
The state will go to poll on May 12, the same day when the game between RCB and DD is set to take place.
“When the IPL schedule was worked out, the BCCI was aware of the elections in Karnataka. We were informed that once the election dates were announced the schedule would be re-worked to make sure all the RCB matches would be held in Bengaluru only. So we are awaiting the revised schedule,” a KSCA spokesperson said, as per Sportstar.
One of the ways to solve the issue is to swap the venues of the game between two teams.
RCB and DD will face each other for the first time in IPL 2018 on April 21 at Feroz Shah Kotla.
IPL committee can stage the first game between these two in Bengaluru, and May 12 game can be played at Feroz Shah Kotla.
Kings XI Punjab, who had some logistical issue, also did the same thing.
They decided to play their Mohali leg first and will play Indore leg later in the second half.
There was no change in the dates of the contests. Only the venues were swapped.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore open their IPL campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 8 in an away game.
Virat Kohli led side has already kicked off the preparations for the coming tournament.
Skipper, though, is yet to join the camp.
Players like Parthiv Patel, Kulwant Khejroliya, Mandeep Singh, Murugan Ashwin were few of the players to join the camp.
Ashish Nehra, the bowling consultant of the team, is overseeing the preparations in the absence of Daniel Vettori, RCB’s Head Coach.
The team was recently forced to make one change in their squad.
Corey Anderson was called in to replace an injured Nathan Coulter-Nile.
The latter is yet to recover from the back injury which ruled has kept since October.
Anderson went unsold in the IPL auction at his base price of Rs 2 Crore.
