IPL 2018: Deepak Hooda Feels Good IPL Could Help Him Get Into Indian Team

Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Deepak Hooda remains optimistic about his chances to get into the Indian national team. But he reckons only a good IPL season will be the route to the Indian team.

The 22-year old has been under the radar of selectors for quite some time now. He is playing incredibly well in domestic tournaments over the past 12 months.

However, it is show time for the youngster to once again prove his credentials in cash-rich Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“The preparation is going good, and I am feeling well. To be honest, I have to perform well in the IPL, and if I achieve that, India is there, and then my dream (of getting selected in the national team) will materialize. I want to play in all the formats,” Hooda told PTI.

“If you see practically, then the road to the Indian team would be easier if I perform well in the IPL,” he quipped.

However, it will not be new for the youngster to get into Indian dressing room. He was already picked twice into the national team by selectors. But he did not manage to play in any of the two series.

He was initially selected for the home T20 series against Sri Lanka in December. Then he was once again sent with the national team to play in the Nidahas tri-series in Sri Lanka last month.

Speaking of not playing, Hooda said:

“There is a little disappointed, and that is natural. It is a different experience. I am getting better day by day; I will get a (chance) when my time comes.”

Hooda Settled At Sunrisers Hyderabad

Deepak Hooda had first come into the limelight with his sensational season with Rajasthan Royals.

However, he came into the forefront with Sunrisers Hyderabad. The youngster became a vital cog in the side’s middle order and had delivered few overs whenever the team needed.

The franchise initially bought him in 2016 auction. He was once again retained this season, which is not quite a surprise, given his performances. Hooda also played a very important role in SRH’s 2016 IPL triumph.

“This is my third year (for the SRH), and there is nothing new (for me). I personally feel confident that the franchise has retained me. I know the situations and the ground, there is a definite advantage,” he said.
