ToggleKolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik wants his bowlers to learn the art of knuckleball which Sunrisers Hyderabad pacers have mastered.
The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul are exceptional exponents of the latest variation amongst a lot of fast bowlers.
However, the credit of the innovation has to go to former Indian legend Zaheer Khan, who brought the skill into the reckoning at the world stage.
“Their (SRH) bowlers have a good knuckleball going. They use it to good effect. That’s something we can look at and learn from,” suggested Dinesh Karthik during the post-match press conference.
Sunrisers steamrolled Knight Riders at their fortress in Eden Gardens on the back of their diverse bowling attack featuring Billy Stanlake, Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Siddarth Kaul, and Bhuvneshwar topping a chart of the Hyderabad-based outfit.
The Orange Army is now at the top of the points table by winning all three games in the tournament.
Very happy with the way the spinners bowled: Karthik
Interestingly, Williamson used only five bowlers in all matches who completed their quota of four overs.
“I think the spinners bowled beautifully. After the CSK game, the way they have come back, all three bowled well for us. So, I am very happy with the way the spinners bowled,” Karthik praised the likes of Kuldeep, Narine and Piyush Chawla.
Dinesh Karthik’s tactics raised eyebrows due to the demotion of Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine while bringing in Mavi late into the match.
“It was coming on to the bat a lot better but for the spinners, it was holding up and the chance of a wicket (was more) so I was trying to utilise that,” justified the KKR captain.
“In these sort of small games, you need to see what is the best attacking option. You need to keep picking wickets and I thought spinners were a better option,” concluded Dinesh Karthik.
