The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League had started in the best way possible. Former champions, Chennai Super Kings, returned to IPL fold in style, thanks to the incredible heroics of Dwayne Bravo.
The Windies star was sensational both with ball and bat, as his side clinched a one-wicket victory in a thriller. Having won the toss, MS Dhoni asked Mumbai Indians to bat first. Young pacer Deepak Chahar was sensational for the side in powerplay overs.
But Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav had stabilized the innings during the middle overs. Bravo, who came to bowl his quota of overs in slog overs, leaked only 25 runs. He was sensational in stemming the run flow of Mumbai Indians.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya had struggled to make the most out of slog overs. Mumbai Indians managed to post a decent 165/4 on the board at the end of their innings.
Having to chase 166, Chennai Super Kings never looked in control. They lost wickets at regular intervals, as most of the batsmen failed to convert their starts.
However, once again Dwayne Bravo was the man with the bat as well. He batted patiently with the tail and hit the loose deliveries to boundaries. His incredible innings saw Chennai Super Kings on the cusp of victory at one stage.
Kedhar Jadhav, who pulled his hamstring and was forced to leave the field, had come on for the last wicket. He played three dot balls before finishing it off with a six and a four. He played a massive role in scripting one of their most cherished victories.
