ToggleEngland Cricketer Ben Duckett has termed IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as a joke after their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (RCB). The Virat Kohli-led side RCB were comprehensively beaten by their opponents in their season opener at Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 8).
Having won the toss and opted to field first, Knight Riders were right on the money when they got Quinton de Kock out in the second over of the innings.
However, Brendon McCullum and Virat Kohli had constructed the innings. The former was dismissed after aggressive innings which boosted their run rate.
Soon AB de Villiers joined the party and smashed the bowlers all over the park. But Nitish Rana unusually picked up both AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli on consecutive deliveries. This had put the team in some discomfort.
However, the heroics of Mandeep Singh at the end ensured they finished with a par 176/7 in their 20 overs. Sunil Narine has once again come to KKR’s rescue with the bat.
The power-hitting left-hander was quick to change his gears and get his fifty in just 18 balls. This had helped Kolkata to have a grip on the game.
Umesh Yadav and other bowlers were decent after the power play but could not deliver the victory for the team.
Controversial comment from Duckett:
Ben Duckett, who is apparently watching the game, had tweeted regarding the game. He called RCB a ‘joke’ after their loss.
“RCB’s team is a joke ?? #IPL,” Ben Duckett tweeted.

In case if you do not know, Ben Duckett had last played for England in 2016. He came to the tour of India back in 2016, but had managed to score only 18 runs in three innings against the home team.
Duckett was eventually dropped out of the team. He recently was about to get selected to Ashes series. But his off the field activities had regulated the selectors from choosing him to the national side.
The Bangalore-based outfit RCB, on the other hand, will look to bounce back with a win in the next game. They will play against Kings XI Punjab at home and would try to open their points tally.
