Kings’ XI Punjab (KXIP) were off to a splendid start this season of Indian Premier League (IPL) with a win already under their belt.
It was their opener KL Rahul who was exceptional on the given day, justifying his INR 11 crore price tag with the fastest fifty in the history of IPL and T20 cricket.
However, the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, was made to warm the benches as the think tank went ahead with all Karnataka opening combo of Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.
The Windies speaking from the sidelines, appeared ready and hungry to feature in the upcoming games, although his chances appear bleak with Aaron Finch joining the squad.
“Looking forward to get my opportunity. Waiting patiently. I had good nets for the last couple of days. The expectation (to hit sixes) comes from the fans. It’s about setting a standard for yourself. It’s all about entertainment in T20s,” Chris Gayle commented from the KXIP dugout during the match.

“As I said, It’s about setting a standard and maintaining it. I’m still fit and hungry for games. I’ll try to stay on for as long as possible,” added the leading run scorer in T20 history.
Gayle was left unsold on the first day of the two-day IPL auctions but was later bagged by KXIP for a base price. Moreover, his role in the team is more of a backup foreign opener.
Before concluding the interaction, Chris Gayle went on to state that the batting lineup of KXIP is great as well as hungry.
“There’s life after cricket, so trying to enjoy every moment. It’s always a good wicket to bat here in Mohali. So anything under 180 will be a decent total.We have a great batting unit; guys are hungry,” concluded Chris Gayle.
