India veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was one of the longest-serving players in the Mumbai Indians camp before the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League.
However, now the Jalandhar lad will now don the yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of the VIVO IPL.
Harbhajan famously known, as ‘Bhajji’ amongst the fans is the second highest wicket taker as a specialist spinner in Tests for India with 417 scalps.
The ‘Tubanator’ had played for the Mumbai Indian since the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008.
In his 136 IPL matches, the off-spinner had picked up 127 wickets at an average of 26.65 and an economy rate of 6.96. Harbhajan is one of the most experienced players in the shortest format of the game.
Even the owner of Mumbai Indians, Mrs Nita Ambani expressed her disappointment of not having Harbhajan in their side in IPL auctions.
However, Harbhajan Singh himself bids adieu to his former IPL franchise according to the official website of Chennai Super Kings.
“It’ll be a game filled with emotions for me given that this was my home ground for the first ten seasons. As a professional, however, these are things that one needs to overcome and deliver, and that’s what I will be looking to do. CSK and MI have always had great games, and as players, that’s what one looks forward to as it gives one immense satisfaction in proving in these matches.”
Talking about adjusting to a new team, Harbhajan said,
“From one strong team to another strong team, it’s a new journey and with a new jersey number 27. I’m just going to go with the flow and see how it turns out. It wasn’t one season but ten years and obviously”
“I know the kind of cricket that they play, but then it’s no secret because with every team playing each other over the years, each knows how the other approach the game, the brand of cricket that they play. Obviously having been a part of the think-tank, I guess I know more than most about how MI plays… The bottom line remains that one needs to play better than them to beat them and CSK have the team to beat them. It’s a big game, and I can tell our CSK fans that we will give our best.”
