IPL 2018: Harbhajan Singh Misses Day 1 Of CSK’s Practice Camp

Veteran off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, was one of the players who were absent from Chennai Super Kings’ practice session which kicked off a couple of days back, a report in Sportstar suggests.

Him missing the practice session was a big surprise as he has already arrived in the camp.

Harbhajan is expected to play a major part of the season considering his experience and also the fact that he played for a long time with and under MS Dhoni for team India.

Harbhajan Singh played for Mumbai Indians for ten years

Chennai Super Kings bought him at his base price of Rs 2 Crore.

He was not retained by Mumbai Indians ahead on the retention day as the franchise opted for Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya.

Harbhajan played for Mumbai Indians in all the ten editions of the T20 league and the franchise not bidding for him in the auction came as a big surprise.

In fact, CSK was the only franchise that bid for Bhajji and got him at his base price.

It was a big surprise to see franchises not going behind him as he has played 136 IPL games.

Apart from that, he is also a veteran of 103 Tests and 236 ODIs.

Harbhajan Singh is not in contention to be back in the national side

In the last season, he got dropped from the playing XI several times, and this was probably the reason behind franchises not going behind him.

The upcoming season will be an opportunity for Bhajji to do well and show that he still has in it.

Presently, he is not in contention to be back in the Indian team, but a good performance in IPL can put him back in the reckoning.

His experience is something which will always back his case for selection in the national side.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have started their practice camp and players like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja have joined the camp.

In fact, Dhoni practiced in Chennai even a couple of days before.

The preparations for the coming season are in full swing and CSK are leaving no stone unturned to make a successful comeback in the coming season of IPL.

The MS Dhoni-led side faces Mumbai Indians in the IPL opener on April 8 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

CSK squad – Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Faf du Plessis, Harbhajan Singh, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Shardul Thakur, N Jagadeesan, Deepak Chahar, KM Asif, Kanishk Seth, Ngidi, Dhruv Shorey, M Vijay, Billings, Mark Wood, Kshitiz Sharma, Monu Kumar, Chaitanya Bishnoi.
