Kings XI Punjab are only one of the three teams left in the league to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. They have had witnessed some awful seasons since the inception of the tournament in 2008. The camp has availed the services of big-hitting giants in the form of Chris Gayle, Aaron Finch, David Miller and Marcus Stoinis.
The Mohali-based outfit is definitely looking forward to the season under the leadership of Ravichandran Ashwin.
But the expectations are quite high this season. Well, Virender Sehwag-led management had ensured that they got a top class squad through IPL auction. They had managed to assemble one of the best Indian core teams.
Similarly, their Indian stars include Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Karun Nair and Axar Patel to name a few.
Chris Gayle In New Colours:
The greatest hitter in IPL history, Gayle had joined Kings XI Punjab after going unsold in the auction for a couple of times.
However, the big Jamaican will look to make the most out of this opportunity, to help Punjab side this season.
“It is a good squad and a good all round team. I hope to hurt the bowlers. It is not going to be about Chris Gayle, it is going to be about team effort. Everyone has a role to play,” Gayle remarked as per the quotes in Sportstarlive.
KL Rahul Promises New Brand Of Cricket:
Signed for a record INR 11 crore price, the onus will be on KL Rahul to deliver big for Punjab. However, with a strong batting lineup, he will play fearless cricket.
The young Indian batsman Rahul had promised the fans to provide them with a brand new cricket. The players look very positive ahead of the new season.
“This is a new team, we promise to entertain and we promise to bring in a new brand of cricket. We will go out there and expresses ourselves and play aggressive cricket, that is what has been stressed about. Everybody wants us to win and we will put our best foot forward,” said Rahul.
Kings XI Punjab will take on Delhi Daredevils in their season opener on Sunday at 4:00PM in Mohali.
