Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is hopeful Ishan Kishan would recover quickly from the freak injury he suffered during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday.
A throw from Hardik Pandya struck Mumbai’s wicketkeeper hard on the face and left him with a swollen eye. Kishan was floored as soon as he received the nasty-looking blow. The medical staff soon attended him as he was seen grimacing in pain.

The incident happened during the 13th over of Bangalore’s chase. Kohli played a pull shot off Jasprit Bumrah which Hardik fielded and threw towards the striker’s end. The bowl, however, bounced awkwardly from a rough patch near the pitch and struck Kishan close to his right eye. Kishan soon left the field amidst the cheer of the fans. Aditya Tare was brought on as a substitute fielder and he donned the gloves for the remainder of the game.
Meanwhile, Mumbai thrashed Bangalore by 46 runs to open their account this season. Sent in to bat first, they scored a daunting 213 for 6. Rohit Sharma starred with the bat, scoring 94 off 52. In reply, the visitors could only manage 167 for 8 despite Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 92.
