England fast bowler, Tom Curran, who is plying his trade for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) feels it is an unbelievable experience to be playing this league.
Meanwhile, the Knight Riders roped in Curran as the replacement of their talismanic fast bowler, Mitchell Starc. The seamer made the world notice his abilities when he made his debut for England in the Ashes.
So far he had played two games for Kolkata, and things haven’t gone the way he would have liked. He was expensive in both the games although, he returned with wickets.
It’s an unbelievable experience
Talking to Sky Sports about his experience in IPL, Curran noted it has been exceptional so far in India. The fans filling the stadium in huge numbers also fascinated the young pacer and hoped that they could continue the winning momentum.
“The experience has been unbelievable. The first two games didn’t go as well as I’d have liked but hopefully, I’ll get better. It’s an unbelievable country, and the grounds are full on most occasions. A lot of people said me it’s an incredible tournament, and in the ground, we have to shout to get the attention, it’s that loud. Our home ground Eden Gardens especially is unbelievable, and hopefully we can keep the winning our games,” Curran said.
Curran noted he chose IPL over County, as he wanted to improve his white-ball abilities.
Meanwhile, England will play a lot of white-ball cricket in the coming English summer, and that’s one of the main reasons behind Curran taking this decision.
“It was hard to choose between County and IPL, but I believe it’s the right decision for me personally. We have a big white ball season coming up back in England I want to get better as a bowler with the white ball by developing certain facets. Hence, it’s a no-brainer for me to come and play in the IPL,” he added.
He didn’t seem to perturb with the tight scheduling and admitted they have a great backroom staff, who takes care of them.
Lauded Andre Russell for his hitting ability
The 23-year-old Curran praised his teammate Andre Russell for his brutal power. The big Windies all-rounder recently struck a 12-ball 42 against Delhi Daredevils.
“Didn’t get a chance to bowl at Andre Russell, but he’s quite a clean striker. The sound that comes off his bat is amazing. You need not look at the ball, it’s certainly going over the boundary,” Curran signed off.
