Chennai Super Kings star Dwayne Bravo lavished praise on his teammate Kedar Jadhav after the latter kept his nerve and guided the team to a thrilling win against Mumbai Indians.
Chennai Super Kings were reeling at 119 for eight after 17 overs with Imran Tahir to give company to Dwayne Bravo. The game looked as good as over by then. However, what followed after that left everyone shocked.
Bravo launched a stunning assault to guide Super Kings to a stunning win.
In the 18th over, he hit 19 runs off Mitchell McClenaghan. In the following over, he slammed Jasprit Bumrah for three sixes. However, Bumrah dismissed Bravo on the last ball to revive his team’s slim hopes.
Bravo’s untimely dismissal threw the game wide open. With just one wicket in hand, the game could have gone either way.
However, Jadhav, who was retired hurt while batting earlier in the game, put his team in front on him and came out to bat. The nervousness then increased when Jadhav played three consecutive dot deliveries before hitting a six and a four to seal the game.
Speaking after the match, Bravo called Jadhav a special player and lauded him for his calm batting.
“He is a special player. So he is not a bad person to have walking in at that time with just 7 needed to win. Even though he is injured, he is smart enough; he is experienced enough to know what is required. He played down the first 2-3 balls, but there was no panic,” Bravo said.
“From the time he hit that six, (Stephen Fleming) Flem was thinking super over, but I was like we got to win the game because we reached so far.We deserved to win. And we are happy that even though Jadhav was injured, he put the team first and came up and finish it off for us,” he added.
