The Kings XI Punjab went on to open their account with their six-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils on Sunday evening at home base Mohali.

It was off-spinner Mujeeb Zadran, KL Rahul and Karun Nair who were simply sensational on the given day.

The newly-appointed captain of the Delhi Daredevils’ Gautam Gambhir ensured that his team posted a decent total with minimal support at the other end.

His 42-ball 55 anchored the innings for the visitors. Daredevils’ challenged the host by registering 166 on the scoreboard.

Mujeeb Zadran effect –

The X-factor for Kings XI Punjab came in the form of Mujeeb Zadran this season as the Afghanistan rising star became the youngest player to feature in the IPL.

Mujeeb put the brakes on Delhi’s scoreboard with his decent spell. Zadran effected two dismissals and conceded only 28 in his four overs at an economy of seven

The Indian International KL Rahul, went on to show why he went for an exorbitant amount of INR 11 crore in the two-day mega-auction.

Aggressive Rahul announced himself in the IPL by scoring the quickest half-century in the history of the tournament.

Bangalore-based Rahul smashed 51 off just 16 balls at a strike rate of 318, which consisted of six boundaries and four maximums. 24 of them came in a single over of Amit Mishra.

Karun Nair’s finishing touch –

One-third of the Karnataka contingent in KXIP’ eleven, Karun Nair, slammed his critics with a flashy half-century to his name.

The triple centurion scored a 33-ball 50, which took the Kings closer to victory. Nair smashed at a strike rate of 151, which consisted of five boundaries and two maximums.

Toothless bowling of Delhi –

The Daredevil’s bowling appeared toothless on the given day, as they found it difficult to break the partnership and stem the flow of runs against Kings XI Punjab.

Mohammed Shami and Amit Mishra were extremely expensive and could not support speedster Trent Boult and Chris Morris at the other end.
