The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw Kings XI Punjab hosting the Delhi Daredevils at the Punjab Cricket Association’s (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
After posting a decent total of 166 in the first innings, Gautam Gambhir’s side was looking to take the quick wickets, in order to make inroads to the deep batting order of KXIP.
However, one man named KL Rahul stood in the way of the visitors as he ripped apart their bowling by smashing the fastest half-century in the IPL history.
Moreover, the Indian International notched up his half-century in just 14 deliveries at a mind-boggling strike rate of 333.3.
In addition, Delhi Daredevils’ experienced campaigner Amit Mishra faced the brunt of Rahul’s blade as he went for 24 in his first over. Mishra was hit for three boundaries and three sixes respectively, in his single over.
Moreover, for those unaware of the recent developments in IPL, opening batsman Rahul was bought at an exorbitant amount of INR 11 crore by Preity Zinta and co. during the auction.
Therefore, looking at Rahul’s fireworks, the owners would be delighted to see Rahul pay them rich dividends for the sum of money paid.
Earlier, it was Yusuf Pathan who held the record for the fastest fifty in the IPL which came off just 15 balls against the Sunrisers.
Also, Sunil Narine’s blitzkrieg against RCB last year is also one of the quickest IPL 50’s which equally came off just 15 balls.
Additionally, Suresh Raina’s freak knock of 80-odd against KXIP at Wankhede is also placed in the list as he notched his 50 in just 16 balls.
As a result, Twitter has gone gaga after looking at Rahul’s assault on the Delhi Daredevils in the very second match of the enticing tournament.
Although, RCB fans would be kicking themselves for letting someone like KL Rahul go to a different franchise.
