IPL 2018: Match 11, Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals – Statistical Highlights 1

Rajasthan Royals won their second game of the season with a thumping 19-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sent in to bat first, the Royals put up a daunting total of 217 for 4. Sanju Samson starred with the bat for them, scoring 92 not out off just 45 balls.

In reply, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to put up 198 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs, thus suffering their second defeat in three games. Skipper Virat Kohli top-scored for the hosts, scoring 57 off 30.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. Umesh Yadav conceded 59 runs off his four overs without picking up a wicket. This is the fifth instance when Yadav conceded more than 50 runs in an IPL game. These are the most number of fifties with the ball for any player in the IPL.

2. Sanju Samson became the first Rajasthan Royals player to hit ten sixes in an innings. The previous best was eight which was hit by Yusuf Pathan twice in 2010 IPL season.

3. Virat Kohli scored his fastest T20 fifty during the match. The India skipper reached the milestone off just 26 balls. His previous fastest T20 fifty came off 28 balls.

4. With 73 wickets to his name so far, Yuzvendra Chahal became the leading wicket-taker for Royal Challengers  in the IPL. Chahal went past Vinay Kumar’s tally of 72 wickets.

5. Rajasthan Royals blasted 88 runs in the last five overs. The tally is the joint second most for any team in an IPL inning. Royal Challengers scored 112 runs against Gujarat Lions in 2016 and also 88 runs in 2015 against Mumbai Indians.

6. Royals’ total of 217/4 in this game is their joint second highest total in the IPL. They made 223/5 against Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 217/7 against Deccan Chargers in 2008.

7. The match saw a total of 415 runs being scored. The tally is the highest in an IPL game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
