IPL 2018: Match 12, Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals - Twitter Reactions 1

Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs to register their second win of the season.

Chasing an improbable 218, the hosts were off to a disastrous start as Brendon McCullum was out for just 4. Quinton de Kock and Virat Kohli then took the chase forward. At the end of the powerplay, the scoreboard was reading a promising 64 for 1.

With both the batsmen looking set, Ajinkya Rahane handed the ball to D’Arcy Short and the move paid off immediately. The part-timer accounted for de Kock to put an end to the 77-run stand. Kohli then went on to compile his fastest T20 fifty off just 26 balls.

However, Royals strengthened their grip on the game by dismissing Kohli and AB de Villiers in quick succession. It was a herculean task from there on for Bangalore and they eventually managed to finish on

Earlier in the match, a Sanju Samson masterclass propelled Royals to a daunting total of 217 for 4 – their highest against Royal Challengers.

Sent in to bat first, Royals were off to a good start with Ajinkya Rahane and D’Arcy Short adding 49 runs off 33 balls. Chris Woakes broke the stand by dismissing Rahane for 36. 4 runs later, Short departed too.

Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes then took charge of the innings. The duo played some delightful shots to add 49 runs before Yuzvendra Chahal castled Stokes for 27. Samson went on to complete his fifty off just 34 balls. He remained till the end, scoring 92 off just 45 balls to take the score over 200. His innings was studded with 10 sixes and a couple of fours. Samson was well supported by Jos Buttler as the duo added 73 runs off 36 balls.
