Mumbai Indians (MI) will go out in search of the first win in four matches when they square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium later on Tuesday.
However, it will be an exciting encounter, as both the teams will look to turn things around for themselves. Mumbai had lost their last game against Delhi while RCB suffered a loss at the hands of Rajasthan.
Mumbai, this season, had mainly suffered, as their fast bowlers failed to contain runs in the death overs. Jasprit Bumrah needs to take the responsibility on himself and deliver.
Meanwhile, they received another blow, as Mustafizur Rahman suffered an injury and will take no part in the league so far. Mumbai will look to bank on their strong batting unit to post a huge total and then back it up with their bowling.
However, Mumbai will force to make a change going into the next game against RCB at home.
Here is the predicted XI of the Mumbai side:
Evin Lewis:
The Windies opener had started to hit the form which is a positive sign for the Mumbai side.
Lewis will look to provide his side with a perfect start in front of the home crowd.
Suryakumar Yadav:
Surya Kumar Yadav is the most consistent batsmen in this Mumbai line-up. He had scored runs in almost all the games for Mumbai. Meanwhile, he will continue his good run in the next game.
Rohit Sharma (c):
The swashbuckling batter is yet to get his form back for the Mumbai side. However, the team management will hope Rohit Sharma helps MI to get their first win of the season against RCB.
Rohit will also be raring to lead the side from the front with some runs upfront.
Ishan Kishan (wk):
The young wicket-keeper batsman had struck some mighty blows in the last game. He had shown his capabilities and Mumbai would want him to continue this run.
It is a great opportunity for Ishan Kishan to make a mark on a huge platform like this.
Krunal Pandya:
The all-rounder has so far done well for the Mumbai side with both bat and ball. A genuine T20 player, Krunal has proved his worth earlier in this tournament. His good form will be crucial to Mumbai’s win.
Hardik Pandya:
India’s premier all-rounder hasn’t had the best of seasons so far. However, Hardik has done well in bits and pieces. He needs to take responsibility and turn around things for Mumbai.
Kieron Pollard:
The big Windies all-rounder didn’t have much opportunity to contribute to team’s success. However, he is capable of striking the ball harder than anyone else in the game. Pollard is waiting for his opportunity to come good for the team.
Jasprit Bumrah:
Bumrah had leaked runs in the death overs which had cost Mumbai the matches. Meanwhile, he needs to take control of the situation and turn things in their favour.
Bumrah has the ability and is likely to take the onus and steer his team’s luck.
Mitchell McClenaghan:
Mustafizur Rahman’s injury will provide an opportunity for the Kiwi pacer. However, he hasn’t shown great form in the only match he played this season. McClenaghan needs to stand up and deliver to retain his spot on the team.
Mayank Markande:
After making an early success in the tournament, the batsmen have slowly started picking the leg-spinner.
However, Markande needs to keep doing the basics right, and the results will follow.
Akila Dananjaya:
Akila Dananjaya had the worst possible debut in his IPL career, as he went for 47 runs against Delhi Daredevils.
However, he will have to find some way to contain runs in the middle-overs against a star-studded RCB batting line-up.
