IPL 2018: Match 41, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians – Five Game-Changing Moments

With the strings of defeats upfronts, Mumbai Indians were down to the bottom of the barrel, into the mid-way stage of the tournament.

However, through three successive wins, the defending champions attempt to repeat history by qualifying into the playoffs through the back door. As a result, it was Kolkata Knight Riders who felt the wrath of MI, as they suffered a 102-run loss at home.

Here are the five game-changing moments from the match.

Ishan Kishan’s outrageous knock

The word fear and submission do not have a place in the dictionaries of the young Indian batsmen in the contemporary times.

Ishan Kishan is one of the few fearless batsmen in Indian cricketer, showing exactly why he is so highly rated at Mumbai Indians camp.

Kishan took the wind out of the KKR bowling attack by his fearless hitting, playing one of the most outrageous knocks in the tournament. Man of the match, Ishan Kishan, struck a brisk 62 off just 21 balls, at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 295, setting it up for his team batting first.

After the foundation was laid by young Kishan, the likes of Ben Cutting ensured Mumbai Indians reached a total of 210. It was only due to the cameo from Cutting which took the men in blue across the expected 190-mark.

Cutting smashed three huge maximums and a boundary, during his nine-ball 24.

Hardik Pandya: The all-round sensation

One of the major reason behind Mumbai Indians successful comeback from the bottom is the series of an all-round show from Hardik Pandya.

Again he contributed in all departments of the game to display his value to the Mumbai Indians. Hardik scaled two wickets, effected a run-out and smashed a 13-ball 19 to show he is one of the best in the world.

Krunal Pandya spell

If the younger brother doesn’t get you, the elder one will.

Krunal Pandya, barring the sensational last-ball six, came back with the ball and picked up two wickets to seal the deal for his side. Not surprisingly, he did not concede many during his spell and ensured the good work done by his teammates continued.

KKR Collapse

One expected a better show from the hosts, in pursuit of a daunting total. All the big guns in the team failed to put forward a contribution, and as a result, left too much to do for the young domestic players.

As a result, KKR went spiralling down in reply to the total set by the visitors, which handed Mumbai a thumping 102-run win.
