Rajasthan Royals kept their hopes alive of going through to the playoffs after registering a quite comprehensive victory by 30 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.

It was a much-needed victory for Rajasthan. However, they still have to depend on other results to go through to the playoffs.

Rahul Tripathi played a great knock of 80 runs which helped Rajasthan post a competitive total of 163 on the board.

With the ball in hand, Shreyas Gopal was the wrecker-in-chief. The leggie finished with exceptional figures of 4/16 which eventually took Rajasthan to a 30-run victory.

Here are the player ratings of Rajasthan Royals for the 53rd match of the competition

Rahul Tripathi- 4/5

The right-hander played his best knock in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Wonder why he was demoted down the order especially after a sensational IPL in the previous year?

Tripathi got Rajasthan off to a solid start. He later capitulated on his start and scored a magnificent 80 off 58 deliveries. Rahul played some exceptional shots. When he departed, he had smashed five fours and three sixes during his knock.

Jofra Archer- 1.5/5

Archer had a forgettable day. He got promoted up the batting order. However, he didn’t start well and got dismissed without bothering the scorers. It was a horrendous shot of short outside the leg-stump delivery.

Even with the ball in hand, he got smashed for 28 runs in his first couple of overs. However, he made a sort of a comeback in the final two overs conceding only 11 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane- 3/5

The skipper shared a crucial partnership of 99-run with Rahul Tripathi. He, as the anchor of the innings and was eventually dismissed after making 33 off 31 deliveries.

He struck three fours during his knock. Rahane also handled his troops to perfection when it needed the most. However, Rajasthan has to wait for other results to go through.

Sanju Samson- 0.5/5

The star-young batsman was dismissed for a golden duck. It was Umesh Yadav at his searing best who brought his downfall in the very first delivery.

He also missed a difficult catch while fielding but it didn’t affect his side in the end.

Heinrich Klaasen- 4/5

Klaasen made a terrific comeback and made full use of the opportunity he got after Jos Buttler had to head back home for national assignment. He smashed a quickfire 32 off 21 deliveries towards the fag end of the innings to propel Rajasthan to a competitive total of 164/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

The wicket-keeper batsman smashed three fours and a six during his knock. Even behind the stumps, he was at his best. Klaasen affected three stumpings and took a catch.

Krishnappa Gowtham- 3.5/5

Gowtham also played a pretty useful knock coming down the order. He smashed 14 off just five deliveries which included a couple of lusty blows off Tim Southee in the final over.

With the ball in hand, he bagged the prized wicket of RCB skipper, Virat Kohli. It was a well-flighted delivery which breached Kohli’s defence and disturbed the timbers.

Stuart Binny- 1/5

Binny had relatively nothing to do throughout the match. He wasn’t required to bat, and neither did he bowl. However, his team did the job and now has to wait for other results to go their way to progress through to the playoffs.

Shreyas Gopal- 4.5/5

The leg-spinner bowled a sensational spell of leg-spin bowling. His terrific spell of 4/16 included the prized wickets of AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali, Parthiv Patel and Mandeep. Shreyas bowled quite beautifully and the wicket of de Villiers proved to be the turning point in the match.

He ended up conceding just 16 runs in his four overs.

Ish Sodhi- 3/5

The other leggie also had a good day. The Indian-origin spinner bagged a wicket conceding only 31 runs. He was instrumental in stemming the run flow alongside Shreyas Gopal.

Jaydev Unadkat- 3/5

The left-arm seamer also had an impressive day with the ball in hand. However, he went for a few runs in the powerplay overs. Unadkat came back strongly and bowled some tight overs in the end which also included a couple of wickets.

Ben Laughlin- 3.5/5

Laughlin bowled only a couple of overs. However, he ended up bagging a couple of wickets which was very important for Rajasthan. He bowled a tight death over which proved to be vital in the outcome of the game in the end.

Laughlin eventually finished with impressive figures of 2/15  in his two overs.
