IPL 2018: Match 54, Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Kolkata Knight Riders Players’ Ratings

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) booked their place in the playoffs, as they beat table-topper Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets in their must-win clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Batting first, Hyderabad got off to a flier, banking on Shikhar Dhawan (50) and Sreevats Goswami (39). However, a middle-order collapse ensured the score didn’t get away from hands. Kolkata bowlers did an amazing job especially Prasidh Krishna.

The young seamer was absolutely brilliant returning with four for 30 in his four overs.

However, in reply, Kolkata set the platform right with Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine providing a blistering start. Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik banked on the start to see their team through with five wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, with three places confirmed in the playoffs, one spot is still on offer in the last leg of group matches.

Sunil Narine: (7/10)

Kolkata’s ploy to send Sunil Narine to open worked brilliantly for the team, as he has provided quickfire start.

Narine continued his job by scoring 29 runs off just ten balls from four boundaries and two sixes.

Chris Lynn: (8.5/10)

The swashbuckling Australia batsman was outstanding, as he provided Kolkata with a blistering start. Chris Lynn picked at the right time notching up a timely fifty.

Lynn got out scoring 55 runs from 43 balls, courtesy of four fours and three massive sixes.

Robin Uthappa: (8/10)

Robin Uthappa returned to run-scoring spree, as he took his team inch closer to the target. However, he will curse on himself for not finishing off the game.

Uthappa scored 45 runs from 34 deliveries with the help of three boundaries and two sixes.

Nitish Rana: (3/10)

Although Rana has been a consistent scorer for the Knight Riders, he failed to score runs in the last few games. Rana departed scoring seven runs off just five balls, however, will have to score runs in the middle-overs.

Dinesh Karthik (c & wk): (7.5/10)

Karthik had led the team from the front throughout the season. He remained unbeaten on 26 runs, as he took his team over the rope. KKR camp will want an inform Karthik in the playoff games.

Andre Russell: (4/10)

Although Kolkata secured their place in the playoffs, Russell struggled to put his best feet forward in the game. He gave away 31 runs from three overs and scored only three runs before getting out. Kolkata will want an inform Russell in the upcoming matches.

Shubman Gill: (0/10)

The young Shubman Gill had no role in today’s game, as the previous batsmen did the job for his team. However, he had already left a long-lasting impression and will look to continue doing so.

Meanwhile, this is a learning curve for him and he will grow in confidence from here.

Javon Searles: (3.5/10)

The Windies seamer didn’t impress at all during his stint in India. Javon Searles continued his poor form giving away 24 runs in only two overs.

However, he will have hit the form if Kolkata wants to go further in the playoffs.

Piyush Chawla: (3/10)

The veteran leg-spinner was expensive against the Hyderabad side. He went for 19 runs in his two overs. However, he needs to return to form if Kolkata wants to continue the winning run.

Prasidh Krishna: (9/10)

Prasidh Krishna was outstanding with the ball, as he rattled the Hyderabad middle-order. The young seamer returned with four for 30 in full quota of four overs. He will have to continue his form and pick wickets for the Knight Riders.

Kuldeep Yadav: (5/10)

The wrist-spinner went for 35 runs in his four overs claiming the lone wicket of Sreevats Goswami. However, he will have to contain runs in the middle-overs going into the playoffs. The KKR management will want him to be in his prime form in the playoffs.
