IPL 2018: Match 54 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Preview
The game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is going to give us a plain idea for the playoffs berth. Knight Riders would go with all their guns blazing as the victory will open the playoffs’ door for the visitors. However, the loss will draw curtains for their journey as well.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Would like to finish with a win at home:
As they are already qualified for the playoffs stage and confirmed to play for qualifier one, this would be the great chance for Sunrisers to give the much-needed rest for the regular players and use those guys who are warming the bench from a long time.
Manish Pandey got back to his own in the previous but didn’t quite took his side over the line. However, SRH would be happy with his form while the other middle-order batsmen should improve their big-hitting skills by all means.
Alex Hales too seems like hitting the downside bar who needs to pull up his socks.
As ever Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan should once again take onus upon them. The middle-order department should be aware of Sunil Narine, who is delivering those magical deliveries while Deepak Hooda should show his charm in order to continue in the playing XI.
Fortunately, Sunrisers have got the luxury of having a lot of young bowlers in their ranks. If management likes to rest regulars, the uncapped youngsters should deal with the star-studded KKR line-up.
Kolkata Knight Riders – A do-or-die encounter:
Without any further considerations, the win against Sunrisers will pave them the way for playoffs. But, the million-dollar question is, can they thump Sunrisers at their home venue?
It is obviously going to be a tough scenario for KKR but we know well what IPL is all about.
The batting department has come good for Knight Riders in their last two games especially after the debacle against Mumbai Indians (MI). They fired in unison against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and were decent in their approach against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at home.
The franchise would like their batsmen to come good against the quality Sunrisers’ bowlers especially, at home conditions.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan would be the main threat for KKR. One should cope him well in order to bag those two crucial points in their kitty.
Coming to the bowling department, KKR are heavily dependent on spin trio Kuldeep Yadav, Narine and Piyush Chawla.
With Hyderabad surface being on a slower side, KKR would once again rest their hopes on the trio.
All in all, holding the nerve is going to play a major role for KKR against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Possible Playing XI:
SRH: Shikhar Dhawan, Alex Hales, Kane Williamson(c), Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasan, Shreevats Goswami(w), Rashid Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma
KKR: Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik(w/c), Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Javon Searles, Piyush Chawla/ Prasidh Krishna/Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav
Pitch Report – It would be a trickier deck on offer. Run making would be hard as bowlers are going to get a great assistance.
Weather Report – No rain is in the forecast. A perfect evening for one last game at Hyderabad.
