The 11th edition of the India Premier League is less than a week’s away and all the teams are gearing up for the cash-rich league. Experts and pundits are also giving their opinion on the tournament. When former English skipper Michael Vaughan was asked by a fan on twitter that which team he is backing this year, Vaughan said that he was supporting Rajasthan Royals. However, he feels that the Kolkata Knight Riders might return triumphant this time around.
The Rajasthan Royals have forged a formidable team on paper this time around. They have bought the costliest player in the auction, Ben Stokes. The franchise also consists of some star players who have set the tournament ablaze in the past editions. Under the captaincy of Shane Warne, Royals won the inaugural edition of the tournament. They had a relatively inexperienced team. However, they proved the world that to win a T20I tournament a team doesn’t require a strong team but a unit who has confidence in themselves and can express themselves on the field.

The return of Shane Warne as the mentor of the team will definitely bolster the confidence of the franchise. Meanwhile, KKR has been one of the most consistent teams in the tournament. They have won the title twice under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. He was an inspirational leader and KKR richly benefited from his experience. However, they have a new captain this year in the form of Dinesh Karthik.
He hasn’t lead any franchises before but given his vast experience, it shouldn’t be a problem for him to handle the young troop. They have a pretty inexperienced squad this year and with Mitchell STarc already out they might face an issue or two. Three u-19 Stars who was part of the Indian World Cup winning squad are part of the set-p. Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill will definitely look to grab their opportunities with both hands.
