Stephen Fleming, Chennai Super Kings head coach is looking forward to recreating the magic at the CSK. Meanwhile, Chennai is one of the most successful teams in the cash-rich league.
However, CSK is coming from a two-year ban and has almost retained their core set of players. Along with it, they have roped in some exciting stars at this year’s auctions.
“We will try and recreate some of the success that CSK had in the first eight years,” Fleming said to CSK website. “Everything is very familiar…right back to the first hotel where we formed our friendships and got a lot of success as a team. Ten years on there is a lot of history,” he adds.
The 44-year old also lauded his skipper MS Dhoni for his immense contribution to the team. He also added Dhoni is looking forward to creating the magic back at Chennai.
Meanwhile, CSK will play the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium. Fleming says the team is raring to take the field in the first fixture.
“We are looking forward to it already. It’s been the venue for some great clashes between the Yellow and Blue shirts,” he mentioned.
Talking about the squad, Fleming feels they have a balanced squad with some international stars in it. Further, he added the return of Murali Vijay would only add value to the team.
“There is a lot of all-round skills in the side and a lot of options, some great spinning options, pace options and a very good batting line-up.We have all three facets of the game covered,” Fleming said.
In conclusion, the CSK head coach talked highly of the spin department and admitted they have a lot of faith on young Indian pace bowlers.
