IPL 2018: Mumbai Indians hosts Rajasthan Royals in a do or die encounter
The clash of the season is set to make its way on a hot Sunday afternoon. Both the teams Mumbai and Rajasthan making their way into the game with a mini-winning streak under their belt thus setting up for a visual feast at historic Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai Indians – Would like to stretch their ruthless form.
The defending champions, Mumbai Indians are living up to their tag of “Turnaround masters”. After watching themselves on the brink of elimination, they made stern warning by winning next three games in the trot. All of a sudden, they found themselves on the top half of the table by thumping down KKR in successive games.
The form of Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan has been the major boost for the team while Hardik Pandya getting back to his own is an icing on the cake for defending champions. Krunal Pandya and Rohit Sharma too whacking it out at the right time for the home side.
The big guns like Evin Lewis and Ben Cutting are doing their job on their day while the bowling department pulled their socks up at the right time. Jasprit Bumrah found his nick at the right time while Mayank Markande is giving those crucial breakthroughs for the team.
All in all, the defending champions are all ready for the must-win encounter and would like to take the revenge for the loss when they toured Pink city.
Rajasthan Royals – Should fight tooth and nail to get better off MI at Wankhede
Riding on Jos Buttler’s brilliance, Rajasthan Royals tastes a couple of sweet victories but when it comes to the game against Mumbai Indians, especially, at Wankhede, the whole team needs to step up for the occasion.
The big guns in the team Ben Stokes and Ajinkya Rahane need to up their game in order to get better off Mumbai Indians. Krishnappa Gowtham has been decent enough with the bat but the lack of reliable order is an area that needs an immediate attention. Stuart Binny and Prashant Chopra showed a glimpse of their capability but need to get into their best.
The skipper of Rajasthan, Ajinkya Rahane would probably have the idea of the conditions at Wankhede as he played a lot of domestic cricket at his home ground. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson seems like lost his touch with the willow. With the shorter boundaries on offer, Smason should join the party at any cost.
Coming to the bowling department, apart from Jofra Archer, none of the bowlers are standing up for the cause. However, Jaydev Unadkat showed glimpse of his own while Gowtham needs to maintain his lengths smartly. The addition of Ish Sodhi turned out to be a valuable one so far. He will get a tough line-up to showcase his calibre on Sunday night.
However, high-scoring run feast is on the cards with pitch assisting the batsmen by all means. The winning team and losing team will see a contrasting progress in the tourney for Playoffs’ berth.
Possible Playing XI:
