Batting first, Mumbai Indians recovered from a poor start to post a competitive 166 for four in the allotted 20 overs. Krunal Pandya starred with the bat, scoring 41 off 22 while Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav also played handy knocks.

In reply, Super Kings were looking set to lose after being reduced to 75 for five. A little later, they found themselves reeling at 118 for eight in the 17th over. However, Dwayne Bravo played a stunning knock of 68 off just 30 balls to take his team home.
