Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians squared off in the game of IPL 2018.

The eleventh season of the Indian Premier League could not have got off to a better start. Two of the most successful teams in the league – Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings were up against each other. And it is safe to say the game lived up to its billing.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians recovered from a poor start to post a competitive 166 for four in the allotted 20 overs. Krunal Pandya starred with the bat, scoring 41 off 22 while Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav also played handy knocks.

In reply, Super Kings were looking set to lose after being reduced to 75 for five. A little later, they found themselves reeling at 118 for eight in the 17th over. However, Dwayne Bravo played a stunning knock of 68 off just 30 balls to take his team home.

With the game now all done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers:

1. It was Chennai Super Kings’ first win by one wicket and also the smallest victory (by wickets) in the Indian Premier League. Their previous smallest win in terms of wickets was by three wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ranchi in 2015 season.

2. Jasprit Bumrah became the fifth bowler to reach the 50-wicket mark for Mumbai Indians.

3. Dwayne Bravo became the first batsman to hit three sixes off one Bumrah over.

4. Hardik Pandya finished the game with figures of three for 24 which is his best in the IPL. His previous best was 2/22 which came against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017.

5. Evin Lewis became the 500th player to feature in the Indian Premier League.

6. Dwayne Bravo has now scored 1050 runs for Chennai Super Kings. He became the 9th player to score 1000 or more runs for Chennai Super Kings.

7. Mayank Markande’s bowling figures of 3/23 are the second best bowling figures by a Mumbai Indians debutant in the Indian Premier League.

8. Dwayne Bravo scored 68, which is now his highest score for Chennai Super Kings. The previous highest was 62 not out which came against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad in 2015.
