ToggleThe unavailability of Pat Cummins for Mumbai Indians has again opened the doors for unsold players to be roped in by the franchise.
Cummins is suffering from back issues, and that is the sole reason behind him being ruled out of the ongoing cash-rich Indian Premier League’s (IPL) eleventh edition.
With Mumbai Indians now in desperate need of a pacer in their line-up, the management is bound to go through their paperwork again, as of now.
Let’s have a look at possible contenders to replace Pat Cummins in Mumbai Indians’ camp:
Lasith Malinga:
Kesrick Williams:
It was a surprise to see Kesrick Williams missing out on an IPL contract. The Windies bowler was the second highest wicket-taker in T20Is last year.
The Windies pacer Williams bagged 18 wickets from 10 matches in 2017, finishing next to wily customer Yuzvendra Chahal.
Now with options dwindling on the list of unsold pacers, Williams’ chances to be roped in by a franchise look far better
In totality, he has played 52 T20 games in which he has scalped 68 wickets.
Tymal Mills:
The much-hyped bowler disappointed in the tenth edition of IPL. He could just manage five wickets in as many games while going at an economy rate of 8.57.
He missed a major part of the season due to a poor form.
Mills has been highly rated ahead of the auction and was sold for a staggering amount INR 12 Crore.
Almost every franchise went behind him to gain his services.
In the end, it was Royal Challengers Bangalore which purchased for such a huge price.
In addition, Mills failed to pay back the returns and his poor form saw him going unsold in this year’s IPL auction.
Since not many options are left on the list of unsold players, he can be one of the options who can be looked at, again.
Mills is available at a price of INR 1 Crore.
Thisara Perera:
One of the experienced players in Twenty20 cricket, Thisara Perera is probably one of the best options who can be looked at.
The all-rounder will provide luxury to the team in both the departments of the game. Moreover, he is a proven T20 player as well.
In fact in IPL as well, he has plied his trade for six franchises, with his last stint coming with Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).
He has been part of Mumbai Indians as well and surely could be in contention to join them once again.
The prominent face of Sri Lankan cricket Perera, has played 236 T20 games in which Perera has scored 2,782 runs and has sealed 214 wickets. But, he is available at a price of Rs 50 Lakh.
