However, the franchise and fans have received support from an actor-turned-politician, Rajinikanth.
Rajnikanth, who has an immense fan following in the Southern part of the country, has demanded stern actions to be taken against the protesters, who attacked policemen during the anti-IPL protest.

The actor-politician shared a video and wrote, “The worst form of violence in law and order situation is attacked on uniformed personnel on duty. This form of violence has to be tackled immediately as it poses a grave danger to our country.”

The policemen had to stay alert throughout the match as protesters threw shoes from the upper tier one of which fell just near Faf Du Plessis.
“We need more stringent laws to punish the perpetrators of the attack on police personnel on duty,” Rajinikanth added.
Moreover, it is now a certainty that the rest of the matches will not be held at the Chepauk.
