Stephen Fleming IPL 2018
Stephen Fleming has expressed his sorrow over CSK's home games getting shifted from Chennai to Pune.

Stephen Fleming, the Head Coach of Chennai Super Kings, has not yet joined team’s pre-season camp, which kicked off a couple of days back.

As per a report in Sportstar, he will have a late arrival and will only join the squad on Tuesday (March 27).

The team plays its first game on April 8 and Fleming will have enough time to gel up with old and new players, even after having a late arrival.

Fleming has been associated with Chennai Super Kings right from the start of IPL.

He was the part of the team in the first edition of the league before joining the backroom staff from next season.

During the two-year when the franchise was banned, he continued his association with MS Dhoni and went onto coach Rising Pune Supergiant.

Though Dhoni was not the captain of Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017, Fleming continued to coach the side led by Steven Smith.

It was confirmed that Fleming would get back his job at CSK and as it turned out to be, he was appointed as the Head Coach of the side.

In fact, he has also been appointed as the Director of CSK academy.

Laxmipathy Balaji has joined CSK as bowling coach

CSK backroom staff has a bit of change as Laxmipathy Balaji, Eric Simmons and Michael Hussey have joined the backroom staff.

Balaji, who was the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders last year, has joined the team in the same role.

Hussey has been appointed as batting coach while Simmons will perform the job of bowling consultant.

Both Balaji and Hussey have played for the franchise earlier.

Chennai Super Kings were able to retain their core for the coming season.

The franchise retained MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja earlier while on the auction day, it retained Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis.

Though, the franchise could not retain R Ashwin, who played for it from 2009 to 2015 under MS Dhoni.

He was purchased by Kings XI Punjab for a huge amount of Rs 7.60 Crore and has also been appointed as the captain of the team.

Chennai Super Kings face Mumbai Indians in the opening game of IPL 2018 on April 8.
