South Indian Film Industry giant, Tamannaah Bhatia, replaces Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra for the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Earlier, it was reported that Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh was scheduled to perform in the grand opening ceremony of the 11th edition of the tournament.
However, both Parineeti and Ranveer have withdrawn their names from the event. Apart from Tamannaah, stars such as Hrithik Roshan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Varun Dhawan, are slated to perform in the event at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The lung-opener of the event will witness the resumption of the age-old rivalry of IPL, between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
Indians, of course, start off as the defending champions in the tournament.
“Before this, I have never performed for a sports event and of course, when you are on a stage there is a certain feeling of nervousness and excitement,” Tamannaah Bhatia told an online portal.
“As a performer, the feeling to perform in a stadium and to feel the energy of the audience will be completely different,” mentions the Bahubali actress.
“I am excited because there is no better sports event than IPL to perform for. We are all crazy about cricket and it’s the opening night,” concluded Tamannaah Bhatia.
Tamannaah Bhatia also took to Instagram to post a picture of her rehearsing her moves along with her crew members.
“It’s time for some great adrenaline, it’s time for IPL!!#vivoipl” captioned her post.
