IPL 2018: Top 10 players who are yet to get a chance in Playing XI

So far, the story of IPL 2018 is no less than a blockbuster movie. They are throwing thrillers on a regular basis for the fans. Right from the match 1 between the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to the recent clash, each game produced some scintillating stuff to shorter our nails. Almost every game came down to the wire and kept the fans on the edge of the seats only to give a ‘Paisa Vasool’ shows.

During the course, few teams succeeded to the core while few teams have bitten the dust only to find themselves in the bottom half of the points table. Few got the right combinations in their ranks while few are still figuring out the best for the team. Meanwhile, we came up with a list of top 10 cricketers who failed to attract a chance in the playing XI so far.

Here are they:

10. Ben Dwarshuis:

The Australian premium fast bowler grabbed all the eyeballs when he was picked by the Kings XI Punjab in the auction. He has been the regular headliner in the Australian big bash league and even secured the opportunity to showcase his talent in national colours. However, he is unfortunate to miss out as his national teammate, Andrew Tye is doing a great job for the team.

Another foreign quota in the bowling department has been filled by Afghani, Mujeeb Zadran who has been living up to the expectations.

9. Rahul Chahar:

The young lad had made a massive impact for Rising Pune Supergiant in the previous edition of IPL. He has been the major contributor to RPS’ road to the IPL 2017 final but unfortunately, so far, he warmed the bench in 2018 edition for Mumbai Indians. He also acquired decent numbers in domestic circuit but couldn’t grab the eye of the management to get his place in playing XI.

However, the emergence of Mayank Markande has been the main reason behind Chahar’s exclusion from the side as he has been consistent enough to glue his place in playing XI.

8. Navdeep Saini:

The lanky fast bowler is one of those bowlers who are in line to make his debut for India in the near future. He made a huge impact on the domestic circuit and also travelled alongside India to bowl in the nets during Proteas tour. Despite being too good, Virat Kohli hasn’t tried him out yet.

So far, Kulwant Khejrolia and Mohammed Siraj have been tried by the thinktank and hopefully, Navdeep’s chance is on its way.

7. Parthiv Patel:

Who would have expected Parthiv Patel would find it hard to make it into the playing XI? He has been such a huge contributor at top of the batting order but still couldn’t fancy his chances as Virat Kohli and management relied their hopes on South African, Quinton de Kock.

However, Parthiv’s chance is around the corner as De Kock is failing on the consistent basis and yet to register a single fifty to his name.

6. Manoj Tiwary:

The most underrated cricketer in India. He has been terrific for his franchises over the years but never got the required limelight to go ahead in his career. Coming to the topic, he has been wasted in the 2018 edition so far by the KXIP unit. Despite Yuvraj Singh is underperforming, the thinktank is backing him thus asking Manoj Tiwary to wait for his turn.

Unless any injury concerns for the regular players in the XI, Manoj Tiwary getting a game looks less likely.

5. Sandeep Lamichhane:

The Nepali cricketer has been the talk of the town during the auctions time but never got the chance in the playing XI to expose his skills in the tourney. Delhi Daredevils has been struggling to find the right combinations to seal a victory still, they are showing the cold shoulder to the young Nepali who can be the X-factor.

It seems like he needs to wait for few more games as they have found the decent combination in their previous game against KXIP. Liam Plunkett made a worthy debut and he would likely to continue in XI for a considerable period of time.

4. Alex Hales:

It is still unknown that why SRH went after him when they were in no interest of picking him in playing XI. Sunrisers are struggling to make an impact as the batting unit but still, SRH is going with the bowling heavy team and thankfully, they are yielding success as well. However, the game of cricket is all about the balance between the bat and the ball. If one misses, the rest can’t survive for a long time.

The lack of quality in the batsman department has been already highlighted when Ashwin chose to bat first in their home game only to expose SRH’s inability to chase. Nevertheless, Alex Hales is licking his lips eagerly to taste the essence of IPL cricket.

3. Moeen Ali:

The England cricketer, Moeen Ali is in form of his life. He recently smacked a stunning century in the ODI cricket and been the regular wicket-taker for England. Still, he couldn’t find a place in the team as the combinations haven’t worked out in his favour. Much like Alex Hales, Moeen also waiting eagerly for his first chance.

With the pitches supporting spinner off late, the chance for Moeen Ali is around the corner. The English all-rounder is equally specialist in whacking it out at crucial junctures of the game.

2. Carlos Brathwaite:

The Windies skipper is the surprise name to be excluded from the playing XI by Sunrisers’ setup. Carlos has always been the prime contributor for his team in both departments of the game but unfortunately, couldn’t fit in the plans of the Orange Army. He developed the various stock deliveries in his bowling arsenal but yet to get a chance to expose them.

Considering Hyderabad’s batting vows, most probably, Carlos Brathwaite would get a game in the near future.

1. Jean-Paul Duminy:

Who would have expected that one of the leading run-scorers in T20 cricket would warm the bench in a tournament like IPL? He has been such a scintillating performer but Mumbai Indians couldn’t find a place for him in the playing XI. Interestingly, they are resisting with Kieron Pollard who is not in a great form.

JP Duminy will be the red-hot property during the mid-season transfer as everyone knows what he is capable of doing.

On a concluding note, it is disheartening to see those stars are still waiting for their chances to feature in the IPL 2018. However, after all, it is a game of cricket where the combinations are more important for a team to secure the victory rather than going with the single player.
