IPL 2018: Top Six Young Indian Players Who Have Impressed in This Season

The Indian Premier League provides a perfect platform to the young players to showcase their skills. The 11th season of the IPL once again came up with a plethora of opportunities for these talented players. Subsequently, the young players were able to grab their chances with both their hands.

We also witness some rookie players came through the ranks to display their fine performances. They were able to make the most of the big stage to be the cynosure of all eyes.

Let’s take a look at the top six  Indian Young players who have impressed in this season.

1. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar was able to impress with his brisk pace and bounce. Chahar also impressed with his ability to get the ball to swing in the powerplay overs.

Meanwhile, Chahar had to miss on a couple of matches after he suffered an injury. The right-handed bowler from Rajasthan has scalped 10 wickets in the 11 matches. Interestingly, he got most of his wickets in the first six overs.

Moreover, Chahar bowled at a good economy of 7.40.


2. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was majestic with his pyrotechnics. The southpaw batsman was able to hit the ground running with his performances. Delhi Daredevils batsman was able to come up good with his aggressive strokeplay.

Risabh Pant accumulated 684 runs in this season of IPL at an average of 52.61 in the 14 matches. The left-hander scored five fifties and one hundred in the 11th edition of the tournament. Most importantly, the wicketkeeper-batsman struck his runs at a staggering strike rate of 173.60.

3. Prithvi Shaw

The Indian Under-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw is definitely a talent to watch out for. The flamboyant right-hander impressed with his high-bat lift.

Shaw made most of the opportunity to open the innings for the Delhi Daredevils. The talented batsman scored 245 runs in the nine matches. The Mumbai batter smashed two fifties at an impressive strike rate of 153.12.

This was the first time that Prithvi Shaw was playing in the Indian Premier League. Consequently, it was a great learning experience for the young lad. Shaw must have definitely taken a lot in his book after playing with and against one of the best in the business.

4. Ishan Kishan

These talented players were able to come good with their performance.

Ishan Kishan was able to impress with his fearless strokeplay. The southpaw batsman played with freedom while batting at the top of the order. Kishan was also able to provide solidarity in the batting order for the Mumbai Indians.

The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 275 runs in the 12 innings he played for the three times champions. However, Kishan best knock was a quickfire inning of 62 off just 21 balls.

The former Indian Under-19 skipper scored his runs at a blistering strike of 149.45. Kishan will definitely like to continue to impress in the upcoming future.

5. Mayank Markande

Mayank Markande was successful in bamboozling the best players in the tournament. However, the 20-year old leg-spinner lost his steam in the end phase of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians spinner scalped 15 wickets in the 14 matches he played in the season. The spinner from Punjab conceded his runs at an economy of 8.36.

It was a great opportunity for Mayank Markande to showcase his skills in the tournament. This was the first time Mayank Markande was playing in the IPL. Consequently, he was able to do a fine job for the Mumbai Indians.

6. Nitish Rana

KKR’s Nitish Rana was able to repeat his previous year pattern. The southpaw batsman did a fine job for the Mumbai Indians in the 2017 edition in the first half. Rana followed the same path for the Kolkata Knight Riders in this season of the IPL as his performance in the first half was impressive. However, his batting faded away in the second half of the tournament.

The left-hander scored 304 runs in the 15 matches he played in the season. KKR middle-order batsman scored a solitary half-century in the IPL 2018. Furthermore, Rana was also able to chip in as a part-time spinner.
