Riding high on the form of their top order, Kings XI Punjab posted an impressive 197/7  in their 20 overs. Chris Gayle had announced his arrival on to IPL 2018 in style.

The southpaw along with KL Rahul had blown Chennai bowlers all over the park inside the power-play overs. They managed to score 75 runs inside the first six overs. The onslaught continued until Rahul was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh.

Mayank Agarwal has continued to take on the power hitter role. On the other hand, Chris Gayle slowed down before getting out after scoring 63 runs in 33 balls. His innings included 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Imran Tahir brought Chennai back into the game by dismissing both Mayank Agarwal and Aaron Finch in successive deliveries in the 15th over. Yuvraj Singh also made a quick fire 20 before getting out, which helped Chennai in restricting Punjab to a lesser score than expected.

Wickets in group did the job for Dhoni & Co. in the slog overs. Karun Nair had been the star in the final overs as his quick fire knock helped Punjab reach 197/7.

Imran Tahir was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai. He got 2 wickets and put lid on the runs in the back end of the innings as Punjab looked to go past 210 at one stage. Dwayne Bravo has once again impressed with his death bowling. Other bowlers have chipped in after the power play overs.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:
