Even though the tournament has just begun, the Punjab-based franchise looked solid and are one of the favourites to reach the business end of the competition.

One of the major reasons for the team’s success is the return to form of ‘Universe Boss’, Christopher Henry Gayle.

The Jamaican went unsold, in the first two rounds of the IPL auction but Kings finally decided to buy the highest run-getter in the T20 format at his base price of 2 Crores.

On Thursday, Gayle smashed the first century of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League against Sunrisers Hyderabad and led Kings XI to their third win of the season.

It was also Gayle’s sixth century of the season; his previous five coming while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore who decided not to retain the opening batsman for the 11th season of the tournament.

Gayle played 85 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore over a period of seven years and was an integral part of the team’s core until the management decided to let him go.

With his current form at its best, the RCB supporters and management must be wishing to turn back time and change their mind.

Moreover, the Twitterati’ have trolled the Royal Challenger’s Bangalore for not retaining the swashbuckling left-hander.
