Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya twisted his ankle in the opening game of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

While CSK managed to win the game in a last-over thriller, one particular image with Hardik Pandya lying down on the ground proved to be a real meme material.

Pandya went into the middle after Mumbai lost two wickets post a decent start. Pandya was sent up the order to up the scoring rate. Although, he didn’t get his timing right but still managed to hog his share of the limelight.

Chennai’s Dwayne Bravo was running with the ball in the last over. Brovo is a well-known death bowler for not only cutting down on the runs but also picking key wickets.

After scoring two runs in the first three balls, Bravo’s fourth was a Yorker on the leg-side. Pandya tried to make room to get under the ball but,as he moved the ball hit him right on the ankle of his left foot, and he fell down.

He was hurt so bad that it didn’t allow him to get back on his feet. His batting partner Krunal and other CSK players surrounded him, and he eventually got up.

Pandya went off the field with the help of his teammates,as MI finished the innings and really struggled with that ankle. But he was back on the field after receiving treatment. Moreover, Pandya took the new ball and bowled with great energy.

He also picked three crucial wickets, but Bravo late cameo took the game away from Mumbai.

Although Mumbai lost the match, Pandya’s efforts were lauded widely. But social media, as ruthless as it gets, found the funny side of this incident and made a variety of memes on Pandya.
