Kolkata Knight Riders‘ fortress at Eden Gardens was breached by table toppers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, as they went on to defeat the home side with a thumping five-wicket win.
Chris Lynn set the stage on fire with his knock up front before Billy Stanlake and co. restricted the hosts to a moderate total of 138.
The Great Hyderabadi bowling line-up hunted in packs, as Stanlake and Shakib ended up with a couple of wickets each. The standout bowler in the wickets column was Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Chasing a modest total, Saha brought down the required run rate drastically with his quickfire knock. After three quick wickets, captain Kane Williamson and Shakib Al Hasan stitched a vital partnership which took the game away further from the Knight Riders.
My job is to go out there and get wickets: Stanlake
Williamson brought up his fourth half-century in his IPL career and also helped his side towards the finishing line.
6’8” Billy Stanlake, for his wonderful figures of two for 22, was adjudged as the man of the match.
“Nice to get out there and get a couple of wickets. My job is pretty simple, to go out there and get wickets,” said Stanlake during the post-match presentation.
“We thought it was going to come through nicely. It sat up a bit, sort of tennis-bouncy. Two great catches, owe Manish Pandey a couple of beers. Those were two great catches,” concluded, the man of the match, Billy Stanlake.
