Former India spinner, Venkatpathi Raju believes the upcoming edition of the IPL is going to be dominated by the wrist spinners in all teams.
As a result, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Rashid Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Imran Tahir and many others would be the ones to watch for in the tournament.
Raju, during a recent interaction, appeared excited about his upcoming role in Telegu commentary with Star Networks during the IPL.
“It is never going to be easy in Telugu compared to English. To find the timing and the right words to describe a particular action on the field is difficult,” mentioned Venkatpathi Raju.
That said, Raju hopes his experience in the field will come into the play, as he was involved with Sony Networks for the same role.
“Initially, this was a big hurdle. But having done two IPL editions now. (for Sony Network). I am more at ease,” revealed Raju while talking to Sportstar Live.
Additionally, the former Hyderabad cricketer reckons that Telegu commentary helps viewers to connect better with the game.
SRH will miss Warner: Raju
“Doing Telugu commentary is a very good experience. it connects you with the viewers. especially those who are not comfortable in English or Hindi. The feedback was encouraging. we will try to keep improving for better impact.” added the man with 93 Test wickets.
However, Raju admitted the upcoming edition of the IPL would belong to the youngsters, as everyone is eager to raise the bar.
“I believe wrist spinners will play a big role. if you look at the line-ups it is obvious they are an integral part of a team’s strategy. And, they are bid for a big price,” Raju said.
Apart from naming CSK as a favourite to clinch the tournament, the offie feels SRH will miss the services of David Warner dearly.
“CSK is always a formidable outfit and the kind of passion it generates. especially in Tamil Nadu, is amazing. T20 format ensures a lot of surprises. This IPL will also throw up fresh talent too,” concluded Venkatpathi Raju.
