IPL 2018: Virat Kohli Beats Highest Paid Captains; See Complete List

The Indian Premier League is set to begin on April 7 this year and has already garnered plenty of attention from the cricketing world. The return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals has helped the league to get back to in principle host cities.

The auction was conducted excitingly as the likes of Jaydev Unadkat, KL Rahul and Manish Pandey had all bagged big IPL contracts for this season. However, many are unaware of how much did the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and other captains earned as most of them were retained by their franchises much before the auction. Here we look at how much each captain in IPL 2018 is going to take home at the end of the season.

Virat Kohli (RCB): One of the world’s best batsmen, Virat Kohli has been the backbone of Royal Challengers ever since its inception in 2008. The skipper is set to bag a whopping 17 crore each year, which makes him the highest paid cricketer in IPL history.

MS Dhoni (CSK): Captain cool is back to where he belongs. The Jharkhand dynamite will once again lead Chennai Super Kings this season at Lion’s den. He will be earning 15 crores this season after his retention.

Rohit Sharma (MI): The only player to win four IPL titles in his career, Rohit Sharma has been the leader that Mumbai had waited for years. He led them to three IPL trophies so far and will earn 15 crores per season.

Rohit Sharma has scored 29 half centuries in nine seasons of IPL so far.

Ravichandran Ashwin (KXIP): The Indian ace spinner was given the responsibility to lead a talented bunch at Kings XI Punjab this season. He was acquired in the auction for 7.6 crores and has a lot to offer this season in their success.

Dinesh Karthik (KKR): Karthik was perhaps the most surprising decision as far as the onlookers were concerned. It is certainly a huge responsibility for Karthik, who is currently in the form of his life. He will be earning 7.4 crores per season.

Ajinkya Rahane (RR): After the sacking of Steve Smith post the ball-tampering saga, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane was handed the responsibility to lead the side this year. He was acquired for 4 crores in the auction.

Ajinkya Rahane has replaced Steven Smith as Rajasthan Royals’ captain.

Kane Williamson (SRH): The New Zealand skipper was given the opportunity to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad this season, after the ban on David Warner by Cricket Australia. He was bought for just 3 Crore.

Gautam Gambhir (DD): The veteran southpaw has expressed his willingness to play for Delhi this season and had got his wish fulfilled. He will be leading undoubtedly the best bunch of young talents this year and will earn 2.8 crores.
