Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) completely decimated the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Monday (May 14) night as they defeated them by a huge margin of 10 wickets. The RCB bowlers were up to the mark in an all-important clash when they bundled out the Punjab batsmen for a paltry total of 88 runs in 15.1 over.
For Bangalore, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three wickets giving away 23 runs in his four overs. Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Colin De Grandhomme and Moeen Ali picked up one wicket each.
RCB now have 10 points from 12 games, while the Kings have 12 points in as many matches. Both the teams have two more matches remaining.
However, during the match, a confusion eventually led to the skipper Virat Kohli arguing with the on-field umpires.
The incident happened when Punjab bowler Andrew Tye was given out caught behind by the umpire. Tye then opted for the Decision Review System (DRS) immediately after being given out.
However, the Australian bowler realized it soon that he had nicked the ball and then withdrew his appeal after a few seconds.
Kohli then walked to the umpires and was seen discussing the matter with them as he felt that Punjab should’ve lost their review as the ultra-edge picked up the edge clearly.
The matter did not come out as the match had already become a dead rubber.
Punjab had set RCB a target of 89 which the RCB openers achieved in just 8.1 overs.
Virat Kohli led from the front while scoring unbeaten 48 off 28 deliveries, as wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel struck 22-ball 40*.
