Kings XI Punjab mentor, Virender Sehwag was happy with the win against Chennai Super Kings. He though hailed MS Dhoni for his terrific knock as well, as Universe boss Chris Gayle in his latest tweet.
MS Dhoni was at his brilliant best against Kings XI Punjab while chasing a massive 198 runs. Chennai Super Kings kept on losing wickets during the middle overs, but Dhoni stood firm and played one of the best knocks in his career.
The 36-year old had turned back the years, as he made Punjab bowlers look woeful.
Dhoni had smacked bowlers all over the park, a knock which depicted why he was the best finisher in the world. Having had the pressure of needing to score more than 18 runs per over in the last four overs, MS Dhoni had kept his cool and almost pulled off a win.
Mohit Sharma has had held his nerve in the final over and earned a crucial win for a new look Kings XI Punjab side. Although not so convincing, Punjab will have plenty to improve on their bowling ahead of their next fixture.
Sehwag, who saw the knock himself, being associated with the franchise as a mentor, has used his Twitter to congratulate his team on the win.
“Congratulations to the boys. Good to win this. Excellent knock from Dhoni ,kept everybody on the edge of their seats. But Chris Gayle ,the Universe Boss was magnificent. Our spinners did well to contain in the middle overs,” he tweeted.

Chris Gayle Unleashes In His Maiden IPL 2018 Game
Earlier, it was the turn of West Indies legendary cricketer Chris Gayle. The southpaw was overlooked in the first two games of the campaign by Kings XI Punjab. But he was given a chance against Chennai Super Kings.
Playing his first game for Kings XI Punjab, Chris Gayle looked absolutely demolishing in the powerplay overs. He along with KL Rahul ripped Chennai bowlers in the initial overs, which ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides.
His impressive 63-run knock in 33 balls will keep other IPL sides on toes when they play against Kings XI Punjab.
