The Superman from West Indies, Andre Russell made his presence felt in the IPL, by smashing his compatriot Dwayne Bravo, out of the Chepauk for a 105-m hit.
Russell, the Jamaican giant of power-hitting, also makes a comeback in the IPL after he got banned for the use of performance-enhancing substances a year back.
However, he made a brief appearance in the Pakistan Super League this season for the Islamabad United before injuring his hamstring.
There remained a shadow of doubt regarding his participation in the tournament. The Carribean did not show any signs of rust against the RCB side earlier at Eden Gardens.
Russel, in the 16th over entrusted by Dwayne Bravo, smashed one out of the screws which cleared the stands as well as the rooftop of the stadium for a mammoth 105-m hit.
It also is the longest hit until now in the IPL this season. The shot also cleared the 100-m barrier for the first time in the tournament.
Hero of the match in Mumbai, Bravo came in from around the wicket to exploit the blockhole. The Jamaican powerhouse smacked the Trinidadian miles over mid-on. As a result, the fourth umpire had to be called to bring a new ball.
Subsequently, he hit the next ball from Bravo over the same region, as Chepauk witnessed one of the flattest sixes ever.
