The Chennai Super Kings had brilliantly started off their IPL campaign.
After the first two matches, CSK has two victories under their albeit. On both occasions, they fought the odds to defeat the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the first match, it was a blistering 68 off 30 deliveries by Dwayne Bravo which ensured CSK reached home by a solitary wicket. In the end, it was a Kedar Jadhav’s six which sealed the deal for the yellow brigade.
During the 2nd match too, they had a tough outing for a major part. Chennai were set a target of 203 by KRR courtesy a sublime 36 balls knock off 88 by swashbuckling Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell.
However, it didn’t prove enough in the end, as Chennai chased the total down with a delivery. Openers Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu got them off to a solid start.
They smashed boundaries at will and helped CSK reach 75 within the powerplay. Despite some tight bowling in the middle overs, it was a quickfire 57 off 22 balls by Sam Billings which made CSK claw their way back into the match. He was dismissed in the penultimate over. Chennai required 17 off the final over with Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle.
Vinay Kumar was handed over the ball. The first delivery was a waist height full toss, and it went sailing over the fine-leg boundary for a six.
Bravo collected a couple of runs of the free hit. Vinay made a good comeback and allowed only a couple of runs in the next two deliveries. However, it included a wide. Ravindra Jadeja who had looked out of touch till then was there at the striker’s end when four was required of the last two.
Vinay bowled the length delivery, and Jadeja collected it sweetly. The ball went sailing over the long-boundary for a gigantic six. It was a sensational match. However, the Chennai fans will be deprived of any further action in their hometown. The IPL home matches for Chennai has been shifted to Pune due to the prevailing Cauvery Water Issue.
Ravindra Jadeja who smacked a last-ball six sported a new look following his achievement. He was seen in a French-cut look, unlike the old Jadeja.
Taking to his twitter handle, he shared a video where he can be seen changing avatars.
“Kya Kamaal look hain, Gabru Gabbar. Six ho ya style, taking this season to a #Newlevel. This is for all #csk fans #BreaktheBeard #newlook #rajputboy #whistlepodu,” he captioned the video.
